Zookeeper Jack Hannah suffers from dementia
Columbus, Animal TV show Ohio - Celebrity zookeeper host Jack Hannah has been diagnosed with dementia, his family says.
His family believes he has Alzheimer's disease, which has developed rapidly over the past few months, according to a news release Wednesday.
Hannah Columbus, 74, was director of the zoo from 1978 to 1992 and is still its Director Emeritus.
Hannah continued as a spokeswoman for the Ohio Zoo until her retirement.
Hannah became famous for her animal shows, raised the profile of the Columbus Zoo, and led to a huge attendance increase over the years.
"Similarly, we know that even though Father is no longer able to travel and work, his contagious passion has touched many hearts and will continue to be his legacy."
